Key Deadlines

New purchases, now: equipment bought after the rules took effect (July 8, 2024 for HHS-funded providers; October 8, 2024 for state and local governments) must meet the standards until the facility reaches its required share.
July 8, 2026 (HHS) and August 9, 2026 (DOJ): at least one accessible exam table or chair and one accessible weight scale per facility.
Ongoing: at least 10% of each type of equipment, no fewer than one unit (20% for mobility-focused rehabilitation facilities).

Who Enforces the Standards

The HHS Office for Civil Rights enforces them under Section 504 for providers receiving HHS federal financial assistance. The Department of Justice enforces them under ADA Title II for state and local government entities.

Detecto 7150-AC wheelchair scale: compliance stated by the manufacturer.
Midmark 626 and 631 and Ritter 228 and 229 chairs: identified by Midmark as complying with the Access Board standards.
Brewer FLEX High-Low PLUS, Access High-Low PLUS and Assist/AssistPRO power tables: Brewer states they meet the currently enforceable 17"–19" transfer height.
