About Welch Allyn
Welch Allyn was founded in 1915 in Skaneateles Falls, New York, and developed the first hand-held, direct-illuminating ophthalmoscope. Hillrom, known for hospital beds, care communications and patient monitoring, acquired Welch Allyn in 2015. Baxter International completed its acquisition of Hillrom in December 2021, and Baxter reports these products in its Front Line Care business. Baxter is moving packaging and labeling to the Baxter brand, but Welch Allyn, Inc., a Baxter subsidiary, remains the legal manufacturer and product numbers are unchanged.
