Buying guide, comparison and FAQ
How to choose physical therapy equipment
- Modality mix: the Intelect Legend 2 combines electrical stimulation and 1/3.3 MHz ultrasound in one unit; the Vectra Neo base unit takes up to five plug-in modules, including sEMG and Class 3B laser.
- Portability: the Intelect Transport 2 weighs 4.2 to 4.9 lb and can run on an optional battery; Intelect Portable TENS, NMES and IFC units run on a 9V battery and can go home with patients.
- Table height: electric hi-lo tables such as the Galaxy 3-Section (21 to 40 in) ease patient transfers; fixed-height tables such as the Hausted 4105 (32 in) and Brewer Element (31 in) suit rooms where height changes are not needed.
- Traction setup: traction tables are sold separately from traction units. Triton and TX units deliver up to 200 lb of static, intermittent or cyclic traction.
- Advanced modalities: the Intelect F-SW is FDA-cleared (Class III) for chronic proximal plantar fasciitis heel pain; the Intelect SWD 100 delivers 27.12 MHz shortwave diathermy for deep tissue heating.
