Description

The ConMed System 5000™ Electrosurgical Unit (ESU) provides procedure-specific energy output through pre-programmed modes that establish a precise baseline of safe energy output for monopolar and bipolar surgery.

Dynamic Response Technology: Proprietary technology samples current and voltage 450,000 times per second and responds to tissue impedance changes in under 10 milliseconds, so the correct voltage is delivered to different tissue types.

Modes:

  • General Mode: Uses Dynamic Response Technology to detect and adjust to tissue impedance changes. For General Surgery, Urology and Gynecology.
  • Lap Mode: For robotic and minimally invasive procedures; limits output voltage to below 2,700 volts to reduce the risk of inadvertent burns from capacitive coupling.
  • Fluids Mode: Initiates surgical energy instantly in high load/low impedance conditions. Used in Urology, Gynecology and Arthroscopic procedures.
  • Pulse Coag Mode: Pulses coagulation energy at 2.5 millisecond intervals for control of hemostasis with less tissue carbonization than standard coagulation.
  • Pulse Cut Mode: Enables controlled cutting depth for ERCP and other gastrointestinal (GI) procedures.
  • Micro Bipolar Mode: Fine, precise coagulation for narrow margins with specialized bipolar forceps. For Neurology and ENT.
  • Macro Bipolar Mode: For energy-intensive bipolar applications needing broader margins of coagulation. For General Surgery, Endoscopy, Urology and Gynecology.

da Vinci® Integration: A custom energy activation cable is available for activation with the da Vinci S® & Si surgical robotic systems.
