Buying guide, comparison and FAQ
How to choose a diagnostic set
- Portable, desk or wall: pocket sets such as the PocketScope and Pocket Plus LED run on AA handles; 3.5V sets use rechargeable lithium-ion or nickel-cadmium handles; Universal Desk Sets keep handles charged on the desk; GS777 wall systems mount in each exam room.
- Ophthalmoscope: choose a coaxial LED ophthalmoscope or the PanOptic, which gives a 5X larger view of the fundus in an undilated eye. PanOptic Plus heads are iExaminer-ready for smartphone image capture.
- Otoscope: the MacroView gives a larger, magnified view of the ear canal and tympanic membrane; MacroView Plus is iExaminer-ready.
- Handles and power: AA alkaline (pocket sets), nickel-cadmium, lithium-ion, or 719-3 Lithium-Ion Plus USB handles that charge in the desk charger or by USB.
- Wall system extras: GS777 configurations add a specula dispenser, wall aneroid blood pressure, a SureTemp Plus thermometer or a Connex Spot Monitor mount. Systems without heads, such as the 77710-TAKX, let you reuse heads you already own.

FAQ
What is the difference between the PanOptic and a coaxial ophthalmoscope?
The PanOptic gives a 5X larger view of the fundus in an undilated eye, which helps clinicians see retinal changes linked to hypertension, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and papilledema.
Can I buy instrument heads without a full set?
Yes. PanOptic Plus and PanOptic Basic heads and the MacroView Plus otoscope head are sold separately, and GS777 wall systems without heads are available for rooms that already have instruments.
Can we buy on Vizient or Provista contract pricing?
Yes. Vizient and Provista members can request contract pricing; request a quote or call (800) 575-2375.
